Our Philosophy
Centre Philosophy
The Tuingapapai Pilosophy
Our philosophy is based on our name ‘Tuingapapai’, a garland of seven ripened fa, threaded together with fau string. This necklace is worn to special occasions or katoanga.
When children come in to the centre, we thread them a ‘papai’ (tui honau papai). When they leave the centre, they take it with them. The fragrance is with them, though the fragrance may dry up – the seed of the fa remains.
The necklace ‘Tuingapapai’ is symbolic life of the child who has received enrichment through learning, and can use the seed to plant; and to become fruitful in life.
The name ‘Tuingapapai – ‘o – Uesile’ is derived from the missionary John Wesley the founder of the Free Wesleyan Church. The following seven ‘papai’ are threaded into our curriculum – physical, social, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, language and cultural.
But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well, Matthew 6:33.
